LG Energy Solution, Ltd. provides energy solutions worldwide. The company offers automotive batteries, which include pouch-type battery cells, modules/packs, and battery management system products for use in electric vehicle batteries; mobility and IT batteries for various applications in IT devices, such as smartphones and laptops, as well as light electric vehicles, electric bicycles, power tools, and wireless earphones; and energy storage systems that are used in power grids, UPS, and commercial and residential applications. It operates in South Korea, China, and the United States. LG Energy Solution, Ltd. was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. LG Energy Solution, Ltd. is a subsidiary of LG Chem, Ltd.

Historique

LG Energy Solution was split off from LG Chem's battery division and incorporated on 2020-12-01, with headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. It listed on the Korea Exchange on 2022-01-27; Reuters reported the IPO raised ₩12.8tn at ₩300,000 per share, the largest IPO in Korean history, briefly making the company South Korea's second-most valuable listed company. Revenue rose from ₩17.85tn in 2021 to ₩33.75tn in 2023, then slipped to ₩25.62tn in 2024 and ₩23.67tn in 2025. It remains a subsidiary of LG Chem, which owned 79.38% of ordinary shares at 2025 year-end.

LG Energy Solution is the largest Korean large-format battery maker and the biggest battery producer outside China in the global top tier, ranking third worldwide in global EV battery use in Q1 2026 at 23.7 GWh. Its business runs on three parts: automotive cells for global OEMs, IRA-localized North American capacity, and a growing energy-storage pivot, operating in South Korea, China, and the United States. SNE Research's Q1 2026 data showed it supplying Tesla, Chevrolet, Kia, Volkswagen, Renault, and Skoda, with 46-series cylindrical backlog topping 440 GWh. Larger rivals include CATL, ranked No. 1 at 99.5 GWh with 39.2% global EV battery share, and BYD, the world's No. 2 in 2025.
