Fanuc Corporation engages in the development, manufacture, sale, and maintenance services of products used in automated production systems in Japan, the United States, Europe, China, the rest of Asia, and internationally. The company offers CNC series, robots, and robomachine products, such as servo motors, lasers, compact machining centers, electric injection molding machines, wire electrical discharge machines, system basic package, and AI servo monitors. Fanuc Corporation was incorporated in 1950 and is headquartered in Yamanashi, Japan.
Historique
Fanuc traces its origins to Fujitsu, which began organizing a control-technology project team in 1955; in 1956 the team became the first among Japanese private companies to successfully develop NC and servo technology. In 1972 Fujitsu spun off its NC division to form Fujitsu Fanuc with capital of 2 billion yen, and the company was renamed FANUC CORPORATION in 1982. It listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1976 and was promoted to the First Section in 1983. By 2022 cumulative CNC shipments reached 5 million units, and cumulative robot shipments surpassed 1 million units in 2023.
