Historique

Apollo Global Management completed its IPO on March 30, 2011. In 2022 it consolidated Athene onto its balance sheet, which fundamentally changed the firm's financial structure and shifted its core earnings toward fee-related and spread-related income. In 2021 the firm set a target of reaching $1 trillion in AUM by 2026, which it achieved, and subsequently raised its goal to $1.5 trillion by 2029. It acquired Bridge for about $1.5 billion in equity value, adding roughly $50 billion in AUM to strengthen residential and industrial real estate origination and equity-platform capabilities.

Position dans le secteur

Apollo operates across the intersection of alternative asset management, private credit, and annuity/retirement services through three reportable segments: Asset Management, Retirement Services, and Principal Investing. Its AUM grew rapidly from $751 billion at the end of 2024 to about $1.03 trillion by the first quarter of 2026, with Fee-Generating AUM of roughly $836 billion. Major competitors include Blackstone, KKR, Ares, Blue Owl, Carlyle, and parts of Brookfield. Apollo's differentiation lies in combining insurance capital, asset-backed financing, private credit, and capital solutions rather than in brand strength. The firm employs about 6,140 people.
