Position dans le secteur

Corpay is classified in the Technology sector and the Software - Infrastructure industry, operating as a B2B payments company that serves business, merchant, consumer, and payment network customers rather than ordinary consumers. By its own 10-K disclosure its principal competitors include, in Corporate Payments, banks, American Express, and Coupa; in Vehicle Payments, WEX, U.S. Bank Voyager, Edenred, Sodexo, Radius, and DKV; and in Lodging Payments, American Express Global Business Travel as well as large companies' in-house solutions. The company attributes its competitive position to global scale, a compound-growth model, proprietary networks, scalable technology, and diversification. Differentiation sources include high switching costs once enterprises embed AP processes, fleet rules, and travel and settlement interfaces into their ERP and workflow systems; merchant, hotel, and white-label financial-institution networks that strengthen as both sides scale; and regulatory licensing barriers such as money-transmission permits and AML and data-privacy requirements, with the company holding licenses through subsidiaries in all states where required. Its moat is not the top-tier global standardized scale of Visa or Mastercard, but a composite of several moderate-to-strong moats across multiple use cases and geographies.
