The company operates in the United States, Canada, Latin America, the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The company was founded in 1802 and is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.

It became a standalone public company through an IPO on May 24, 2019, and carries continuing obligations and indemnification arrangements tied to its separation agreements with Dow and DuPont. The company has expanded through acquisitions including Stoller and Symborg, and in 2025 it recorded a major Bayer resolution. Corteva plans to split into two separate publicly listed companies, covering its Seed and Crop Protection businesses, in the fourth quarter of 2026.
