Historique

Hut 8 Corp. was founded in 2020 and is based in Miami, Florida; its common stock has traded since an IPO on 2018-03-08. The company began as a bitcoin miner and has transformed into an energy infrastructure platform that integrates power, digital infrastructure, and compute at scale across the United States and Canada, operating through Power, Digital Infrastructure, Compute, and Other segments. In 2023 it underwent a business combination in which USBTC acted as the accounting acquirer, making 2023 a transitional period that limits comparability with later years. Revenue scaled from $59.87 million in the 2023 transitional period to $162.4 million in 2024 and $235.1 million in 2025, with $71.02 million in the first quarter of 2026. Period-end common shares outstanding grew from about 83.72 million in 2023 to 99.48 million at year-end 2024, 110.1 million at year-end 2025, and 112.5 million by March 31, 2026. In April 2026 its River Bend project closed $3.25 billion of investment-grade senior secured notes financing structured as non-recourse to Hut 8, and in May 2026 the company replaced prior financing with a new $200 million bitcoin-collateralized facility from FalconX that lowered the rate by 200 basis points and released about 3,300 BTC of collateral.

Position dans le secteur

Hut 8 operates at the intersection of two industries: bitcoin mining, a high-volatility, capital-intensive and commoditized field, and AI/high-performance data center development and leasing. By the end of 2025 its development pipeline reached 8,500MW, and by May 2026 contracted AI data center capacity rose to 597MW with aggregate base-term contract value of about $16.8 billion; the company's market value was about $10.36 billion. It competes with large bitcoin miners as well as digital infrastructure developers and cloud service providers for scarce power, energized land, data center equipment, and customers. As of 2025, Compute (largely bitcoin-related) still accounted for about 86% of revenue, rising to about 93% in the first quarter of 2026. Its customer base includes Hut 8 Canada serving more than 200 customers across five Canadian data centers; reliance on the Foundry and Luxor mining pools for bitcoin pool distribution; River Bend, with Fluidstack as tenant and Google providing a financial backstop for a 15-year base term; and Beacon Point, under a 15-year, 352MW IT lease with a high-investment-grade tenant. The company has built ASIC compute infrastructure at about $350,000/MW in West Texas and about $250,000/MW at Salt Creek, and uses a proprietary software suite for site operations, data integration, and power consumption optimization. Its competitive position rests on project-origination capability, power and interconnect resource acquisition, and green data center development and execution.
