Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. was founded in 1871 and is headquartered in New York. The company completed its IPO on December 30, 1987. In 2004 it was involved in a bid-rigging scandal and paid an $850 million settlement in 2005. John Q. Doyle became group CEO on January 1, 2023. At the end of 2024 the company completed its $7.75 billion acquisition of McGriff, and in late 2025 it authorized a new $6 billion share buyback, of which $750 million was executed in the first quarter of 2026.
