Position dans le secteur
Regions Financial ranks among the large U.S. regional/super-regional banks, with approximately $158.8 billion in total assets at year-end 2025, though it is not a national top-tier giant. Its core franchise rests on a low-cost, granular deposit base: interest-bearing deposit cost was 1.72% in the first quarter of 2026 (described as peer-leading), average account balance was about $19,000, and roughly 60% of deposits were FDIC-insured (about $52.3 billion, or ~40%, uninsured at year-end 2025). Operating metrics in the first quarter of 2026 included a 3.67% net interest margin, 18.26% ROATCE, and a 56.6% efficiency ratio. Sources of competitive advantage include the low-cost deposit base and asset-liability management, switching costs in corporate cash management, credit, and wealth relationships, and banking-license and regulatory barriers; competition comes from larger national banks, other regional banks, credit unions, and fintech firms, with PNC, FITB, HBAN, and TFC cited as comparable regional banks.
