It launched the GLM framework in 2021 and in 2022 open-sourced GLM-130B, described as China's first model at the ten-billion-parameter class. Per its prospectus citing Frost & Sullivan, by 2024 revenue Zhipu is China's largest independent large-model company and the second-largest general large-model developer, with a market share of about 6.6%; the top five players' shares were roughly 9.4%, 6.6%, 6.4%, 6.1%, and 4.7%. In 2025 revenue rose about 132% to RMB 724.3 million, split between on-premise deployment (73.7%) and cloud-based deployment (26.3%). As of 30 June 2025 its models had empowered over 8,000 institutional clients, and its API/Agent platform covered 218 countries and regions.
