연혁

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated was founded in 1960 and is headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California; it completed its IPO on November 23, 1999. The company has grown into a multi-segment industrial technology platform built up substantially through acquisitions, today organized into four segments: Digital Imaging, Instrumentation, Aerospace and Defense Electronics, and Engineered Systems. In 2021 it completed the FLIR acquisition, after which it steadily de-levered, reducing long-term debt from $4.099 billion to $2.025 billion by the end of 2025. It continued smaller bolt-on acquisitions, with 2025 acquisition spending of about $811 million, of which the Qioptiq deal was roughly $703 million. As of 2025 the company employed 15,800 people and generated total revenue of $6.115 billion, rising to $1.560 billion in the first quarter of 2026.

업계 내 위치

Teledyne operates across several distinct industrial-technology vertical markets rather than a single industry, spanning environmental and ocean instruments, test and measurement, infrared and digital imaging, defense electronics, space and unmanned systems, and industrial X-ray. By 2025 revenue, Digital Imaging accounted for about 52%, Instrumentation about 24%, Aerospace and Defense Electronics about 17%, and Engineered Systems about 7%. Its customer base is diversified, with no single commercial customer exceeding 10% of revenue in 2025 or 2024; U.S. government sales were about $1.559 billion, or 25.5% of revenue, while international customers contributed about $2.933 billion across more than 100 countries. The company's competitive position rests on a collection of niche-market positions supported by product certifications, application know-how, and high re-qualification and re-certification switching costs in mission-critical military, aerospace, medical, and industrial-inspection applications, rather than on any single patent it deems indispensable. Comparable companies it identifies include Agilent, Ametek, Bruker, Fortive, Keysight, Mettler-Toledo, Xylem, and TransDigm.
