Branchenposition

Meta sits in the Communication Services sector within Internet Content & Information, and stands as a structural winner in the mature digital-advertising market. In 2025, advertising made up roughly 97.6% of total revenue, drawn from placements across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and third-party apps, with Family daily active people reaching 3.58 billion. Its moat rests on network effects, first-party data, ad-auction scale, algorithms, and infrastructure rather than traditional switching costs. The company names its closest comparable rivals as Alphabet/YouTube and TikTok, the latter cited as having drawn away some user time, especially among younger users.
