Hygon Information Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2014 and is based in Beijing, China.

History

Hygon Information Technology was founded in 2014 and is based in Beijing, China. It entered high-end CPUs through AMD licensing and joint ventures (Chengdu Haiguang Integrated, 70% Hygon / 30% AMD; Chengdu Haiguang Microelectronics, 49% Hygon / 51% AMD). In June 2019 it and related entities were added to the US Entity List, after which AMD ceased technical services and the company carried out subsequent product and technology iteration on its own. Hygon listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange STAR Market on 2022-08-12 at an issue price of 36 yuan. In June 2025 it proposed a share-swap absorption merger of Sugon, which was terminated on December 9, 2025.

Industry position

Hygon is a domestic high-end processor design company classified under semiconductors, combining server CPUs for the IT-localization market with DCU AI accelerators. Its CPUs emphasize x86 compatibility and lower migration friction relative to alternatives such as Loongson, Phytium, and Kunpeng. Sugon, its largest shareholder with 27.96% at end-2025, supplies servers and systems and is a key channel and integration partner. In 2025 revenue reached 14.377 billion yuan, up 56.92% year over year. Per Reuters citing IDC, in 2025 domestic GPU and AI chip makers collectively took nearly 41% of China's AI accelerator server market.
