Coherent Corp. develops, manufactures, and markets engineered materials, optoelectronic components and devices, and laser systems for the use in the industrial, communications, electronics, and instrumentation markets worldwide. It operates through three segments: Networking, Materials, and Lasers. The Networking segment offers transceivers, systems, subsystems, modules, components, optics, and semiconductor devices for datacenter and communications applications. The Materials segment provides engineered materials, laser optics, thermoelectric components, and advanced ceramic and metal-matrix composite materials and products; and vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser, edge-emitting laser, pump lasers, high-power lasers for materials processing, and integrated circuit. The Laser segment offers excimer lasers, solid-state lasers, CO2 lasers, and laser systems for various industrial applications, including semiconductor capital equipment, display manufacturing, precision manufacturing, and scientific research; and laser systems and subsystems. It markets its products and services through direct sales force, representatives, and distributors. The company was formerly known as II-VI Incorporated and changed its name to Coherent Corp. in September 2022. Coherent Corp. was incorporated in 1971 and is headquartered in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania.

Coherent Corp. was incorporated in 1971 and is headquartered in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, with its stock listing dating to an IPO on March 26, 1990. The company was formerly known as II-VI Incorporated and changed its name to Coherent Corp. in September 2022, following the acquisition of the former Coherent, Inc. (FY2023 was the first full year after that acquisition). In September 2025 it sold its aerospace and defense business for about $400 million, and in March 2026 NVIDIA subscribed for 7,788,161 common shares for $2 billion in cash; by March 31, 2026 its Series B convertible preferred stock had been fully converted.

Coherent is a vertically integrated photonics manufacturer of engineered materials, optoelectronic components and devices, laser systems, and transceivers serving the datacenter & communications and industrial markets worldwide. From July 2025 it reorganized reporting into two segments, Datacenter & Communications and Industrial; in the first nine months of FY2026 datacenter & communications revenue was about $3.66 billion (roughly 72%) and industrial revenue about $1.413 billion (roughly 28%), with a market capitalization of about $69.18 billion and about 30,216 employees. Its FY2025 10-K peer group includes Lumentum, IPG Photonics, Wolfspeed, Corning, MKS Instruments, and Honeywell, and in FY2025 two customers accounted for 12% and 10% of revenue, mainly from its networking business.
