Entergy Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the production and retail distribution of electricity in the United States. It generates, transmits, distributes, and sells electric power in portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, including the City of New Orleans. It also engages in the ownership of interests in non-nuclear power plants that sell electric power to wholesale customers, as well as provides decommissioning services to other nuclear power plant owners. It generates electricity through gas, nuclear, coal, hydro, and solar power sources. The company sells energy to retail power providers, utilities, electric power co-operatives, power trading organizations, and other power generation companies. The company's power plants have approximately 25,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity. It delivers electricity to 3.1 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Entergy Corporation was founded in 1913 and is headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Entergy Corporation was founded in 1913 and is headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, and completed its IPO on June 1, 1972. As of the end of 2025 it operates through five operating utility companies. In 2025 its shares outstanding rose from roughly 562 million to about 583 million, and in February 2026 it physically settled around 4.61 million shares for approximately $346 million in cash. A $500 million share buyback authorized in 2010 still had $350 million remaining at the end of 2025.

Entergy is a vertically integrated, regulated electric utility serving portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, including the City of New Orleans, delivering electricity to about 3.1 million retail customers through five operating companies. It generates power from gas, nuclear, coal, hydro, and solar sources, with roughly 24.6 GW of generating capacity, about 16,100 miles of high-voltage transmission lines, and about 107,800 miles of distribution lines as of the end of 2025. In 2025 electric operating revenue was about $12.775 billion and gas revenue about $0.113 billion, for total operating revenue of roughly $12.947 billion.
