It operates through three segments: CCG (Client Computing), DCAI (Data Center and AI), and Intel Foundry. In 2025 Intel appointed Lip-Bu Tan as CEO and completed the sale of a 51% controlling stake in Altera while retaining roughly a 48% interest.

Intel operates in the technology sector's semiconductor industry, supplying client and commercial CPUs, discrete GPUs, edge computing and connectivity products, server CPUs and networking products, and wafer fabrication services. The x86 architecture remains the base platform for most PCs. Its principal product competitors include AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, and ASIC and FPGA vendors; in foundry, TSMC leads at the most advanced nodes and Samsung is another major competitor, with only TSMC and Samsung offering advanced external foundry capability. Its three largest customers accounted for 43% of revenue in 2025.
