Industry position
PDD Holdings operates in internet retail, running the domestic Pinduoduo marketplace and the cross-border Temu platform; its revenue comes from online marketing services and transaction-service fees rather than first-party retail. In 2025 revenue reached RMB 431.85 billion, with the two streams nearly even at RMB 217.78 billion and RMB 214.06 billion. The model is unusually asset-light, with 2025 capital expenditure of only about RMB 1.145 billion. Its core strength is efficiently organizing low-priced Chinese manufacturing supply; key competitors include Alibaba and JD.com at home, and Shein, AliExpress and Amazon overseas.
