Posición en el sector

Arch Capital is a writer of specialty-lines insurance and reinsurance plus mortgage insurance and reinsurance, combining three platforms — specialty insurance, global reinsurance, and mortgage — that give it a more diversified earnings base than most pure property-and-casualty peers. Its Mortgage segment writes U.S. primary mortgage insurance predominantly on loans sold to the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) and is active in U.S. credit-risk transfer; in its 2022 annual report the company described itself as the only globally diversified insurer of mortgage credit risk. Its principal insurance subsidiaries carry high financial-strength ratings — S&P AA-, Moody's A1, Fitch AA-, and A.M. Best A+ — which underpin its ability to underwrite large and complex risks and to retain brokers and clients. The company markets its products through licensed independent retail and wholesale brokers and follows a cycle-management approach, exercising underwriting discipline in soft markets and expanding when markets harden. Comparable insurers cited alongside it include RenaissanceRe (RNR), which is more reinsurance-weighted, W.R. Berkley (WRB) in high-quality commercial property-and-casualty, and the larger, more globally diversified Chubb (CB).
