Agnico Eagle Mines Limited was incorporated in 1953 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada; its predecessor was renamed Agnico Mines in 1957 (traceable to a 1953 merger of CCMC), and the company has paid dividends continuously since 1983. It long operated around the single LaRonde flagship mine before diversifying internationally in 2008-2010 as Finland's Kittila, Mexico's Pinos Altos, and Nunavut's Meadowbank came online. In 2014 it held 50% of Canadian Malartic alongside Yamana, completed a merger of equals with Kirkland Lake Gold on 2022-02-08 (about $13.4B stock swap, adding Detour Lake, Macassa, and Fosterville), acquired Yamana's remaining 50% of Canadian Malartic in 2023, and acquired O3 Mining (Marban project, 58% premium) in 2025.
