Posición en el sector

Avery Dennison describes itself as a global leading materials science and digital identification solutions company, serving end markets that include personal care, apparel, general retail, e-commerce, logistics, food and grocery, pharmaceuticals, and automotive. Its competitive position in the Materials Group rests on technical expertise, scale, breadth of product line, service capability, distribution reach, and brand strength, and the company notes that new entrants to the pressure-sensitive materials industry are constrained by technical knowledge and capital requirements. Its customer base is not concentrated: in 2023, 2024, and 2025 no single customer accounted for more than 10% of sales, and the top ten customers represented about 17% of sales in 2025, while the company states that the loss of any single patent or license would not be material to the overall business. International operations contributed roughly 69% of sales. In labels and functional materials it faces strong competitors, including UPM Raflatac, which describes itself as the world's second-largest producer of self-adhesive label materials with 2024 sales of about EUR 1.562 billion, and CCL, which claims to be the world's largest label company with about 26,000 employees and 214 plants; by comparison Avery Dennison's Materials Group recorded about USD 6.093 billion in sales in 2025. In RFID and digital identification, an area with continued growth potential, RAIN tag chip shipments reached 42.7 billion units in 2025, with a projection of 115 billion units by 2028.
