The Consumer segment offers cleaning products for the home; consumer air quality products; picture hanging accessories; retail abrasives, paint accessories, and safety products; stationery and office products; automotive appearance products; and consumer bandages, tapes, braces, and supports. It serves automotive; commercial solutions; consumer markets; design and construction; electronics; energy; government; manufacturing; safety; transportation industries. 3M Company was founded in 1902 and is headquartered in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Its IPO date was January 2, 1970. By the end of 2025 the company completed its exit from PFAS manufacturing, while still holding roughly a 15% stake in Solventum (valued at about $2 billion). Leadership changed recently: Bill Brown became CEO on May 1, 2024 and also chairman on March 1, 2025, while CFO Anurag Maheshwari joined in September 2024. In 2026 3M completed the divestiture of its precision grinding and polishing business and planned further portfolio changes within Safety and Industrial.
