It became an independent public company through a spin-off from Western Digital, completing its IPO on February 24, 2025, with David Goeckeler as CEO and Luis Visoso as CFO since February 2025. The company develops, manufactures, and sells data storage devices and solutions based on NAND flash technology, including SSDs, flash-based embedded storage, removable cards, USB drives, and wafers and components. It co-develops and manufactures flash memory with Kioxia through the Flash Ventures joint venture, in which Sandisk holds 49.9% and Kioxia holds 50.1%.

Sandisk competes among the major global NAND flash makers. By 3Q25 NAND market share, Samsung held 32.3%, SK hynix 19.3%, Kioxia 15.3%, and SanDisk 12.4%. In enterprise SSDs, Sandisk's 4Q25 revenue was $440M, smaller than the leaders Samsung, SK Group, Micron, and Kioxia. The company has signed five long-term supply contracts, three of which are worth at least $42B, and is partnering with SK hynix on HBF, planning to provide samples in the second half of 2026 and first AI-inference device samples in early 2027.
