Envicool traces its origins to its predecessor Envicool Ltd., established in Shenzhen in August 2005 with registered capital of just RMB 1 million, originally funded by Zhang Wei and Li Zhigui. After capital increases in 2008 and 2009, Qi Yong became the core contributor and controlling figure, and from 2011 onward institutional investors and holding platforms were brought in. The management team shaped the company's direction: Chairman and General Manager Qi Yong previously worked at Huawei Electric and Emerson, and several core executives came from Liebert, Emerson, Midea, Huawei Electric, and Foxconn. Envicool listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange SME board on December 29, 2016, at an issue price of RMB 18 per share, issuing 20 million shares for net proceeds of about RMB 309 million. In 2018, Shanghai Ketai became a wholly-owned subsidiary, taking the company into rail transit train air conditioning and adding subway train AC and overhaul services. The company launched a private placement in 2020 and completed it in 2021, issuing 12.0797 million new shares at RMB 25.58 per share for net proceeds of about RMB 302 million, directed toward its South China headquarters base and R&D and manufacturing capacity.
