沿革
Archer-Daniels-Midland Company was founded in 1902 and is based in Chicago, Illinois, with an IPO date of April 5, 1983. The company has grown into a global agricultural supply-chain manager and processor, organizing its business into three reportable segments: Ag Services and Oilseeds, Carbohydrate Solutions, and Nutrition. It now employs roughly 40,798 people and operates across the United States, Switzerland, the Cayman Islands, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, and internationally. Revenue moved through a clear cycle, reaching a peak of about $101.6 billion in 2022 before declining to roughly $85.5 billion in 2024 and about $80.3 billion in 2025. In 2024 the company disclosed a material weakness in internal controls related to intersegment sales; in January 2026 it reached a $40 million settlement with the SEC, and the DOJ ended its investigation without further action, with the company stating these issues affected historical segment disclosures rather than the consolidated financial statements.
業界での地位
ADM is a global agricultural supply-chain management and processing company that connects origination to end demand, engaging in the origination, merchandising, transportation, and storage of agricultural raw materials, the crushing and processing of oilseeds, corn and wheat wet and dry milling, and higher-value human and animal nutrition ingredients. Its competitive position rests on global scale, asset footprint, logistics networks, origination capability, risk management, and breadth of customer coverage rather than on brand or patents, with its Ag Services and Oilseeds segment spanning procurement, transportation, storage, crushing, refining, and export. Its principal publicly traded peers include Bunge, which strengthened its scale and global network after completing the Viterra acquisition in 2025, and Ingredion, which reflects a more ingredient-focused model. The company holds an investment-grade credit rating with a negative outlook and roughly $12.3 billion in credit facilities, of which about $9.4 billion was unused.
