沿革

Axon Enterprise, Inc. was incorporated in 1993 and is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company was formerly known as TASER International, Inc. and changed its name to Axon Enterprise, Inc. in April 2017; it completed its IPO on June 7, 2001. Originally centered on TASER conducted-energy devices and law-enforcement recording hardware, it evolved into a public safety technology provider operating in two segments, Software and Services and Connected Devices. Revenue grew from $866 million in 2021 to $2.78 billion in 2025. The company expanded through acquisitions, taking controlling stakes in Fusus and Dedrone (completed in 2024) and acquiring Prepared (cash consideration about $624 million) and Carbyne (base consideration about $625 million); goodwill rose to $1.37 billion at the end of 2024 and to $1.894 billion by the first quarter of 2026. The company had about 5,100 employees.

業界での地位

Axon positions itself as a public safety technology platform spanning conducted-energy TASER devices, body and in-car/fixed cameras, cloud evidence and workflow software, and real-time command, drone and 911 capabilities. It reports more than 1 million software users, over 1 million TASER devices sold cumulatively, service to more than 17,000 U.S. state and local public safety agencies, and deployment in over 85 countries. In 2025, revenue was $2.78 billion (up about 33%) and Software and Services accounted for roughly 43% of revenue, with more than 95% of revenue from subscription-plan customers; first-quarter 2026 revenue was $807.3 million (up about 34%). Annual recurring revenue reached $1.347 billion at the end of 2025 and $1.493 billion in the first quarter of 2026, with net revenue retention of 125% and future contracted bookings of about $14.3 billion. U.S. revenue was 83% of the total in 2025, declining to 80% by the first quarter of 2026. Differentiation rests on switching costs tied to evidence storage, audit chains, workflow, permissions and command-platform integration; the platform has recorded more than 60 million hours of footage and Fusus processes more than 1 million live streams per month. Competitors named by the company include Motorola Solutions, Genetec, CentralSquare, Hexagon, Flock Safety, Tyler and Versaterm, with Motorola Solutions overlapping across video, digital evidence, real-time command, 911 and AI reporting. Founder Rick Smith serves as CEO.
