沿革

Casey's General Stores, Inc. was founded in 1959 and is headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, operating convenience stores under the Casey's and Casey's General Store names across the United States. The company completed its IPO on October 20, 1983. Its stores combine self-service motor fuel (gasoline and diesel) with in-store convenience merchandise, tobacco and nicotine products, beer, wine and spirits, and a prepared-food program spanning pizza, donuts, breakfast items, sandwiches and other made-to-order food. Casey's has expanded its footprint over time through a combination of building and acquiring stores: over the past ten years it built or acquired 1,173 stores, including 701 acquired stores, of which 394 were acquired in the most recent three years. On November 1, 2024 it completed the acquisition of Fikes/CEFCO for total consideration of about $1.166 billion, extending its presence into Texas and the Florida/Alabama panhandle markets. As of January 31, 2026 the company operated 2,924 stores across 19 states and employed 23,338 people; it also runs three distribution centers and reported owning most of its real estate, including the substantial majority of its stores and all three distribution centers.

業界での地位

Casey's describes itself as the third-largest convenience-store chain in the United States by store count and the fifth-largest pizza chain in the country, anchored by roughly 2,900 stores across 19 states and a dense presence in Midwestern small towns and rural markets. As of April 30, 2025 about 71% of its stores were located in towns with fewer than 20,000 residents, a small-town and rural siting strategy that is central to its competitive position. Its differentiation rests on store density in underserved markets, ownership of most of its real estate, self-built distribution (three distribution centers, a fleet of roughly 500 tractors, and about 60% of fuel delivered by its own tanker fleet), high-margin prepared food, and a rewards program. The Casey's Rewards membership base exceeded 9 million at the end of FY2025 and surpassed 10 million by March 2026, and the company cites 92% aided brand awareness. In FY2025 total revenue was $15.941 billion, composed of fuel ($9.776 billion), grocery and general merchandise ($4.144 billion), prepared food and dispensed beverage ($1.612 billion), and other ($0.409 billion). The company competes against chains such as Circle K/Alimentation Couche-Tard, 7-Eleven/Seven & i, and Murphy USA, as well as local convenience stores, supermarkets, quick-service restaurants and other retailers; its 10-K characterizes the industry as highly competitive with relatively low barriers to entry, while the broader market remains fragmented.
