沿革
Citizens Financial Group, Inc. was founded in 1828 and is headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island. The company was formerly known as RBS Citizens Financial Group, Inc. and changed its name to Citizens Financial Group, Inc. in April 2014, completing its initial public offering on September 24, 2014. It operates as a bank holding company through two segments, Consumer Banking and Commercial Banking, and today employs roughly 17,380 people across a network of about 1,000 branches and approximately 3,100 ATMs spanning 14 states and Washington, D.C. Its scale grew materially around 2021 to 2022, when shares outstanding rose from about 422 million to about 492 million in connection with the HSBC and Investors transactions, while tangible book value per share fell from $34.61 to $27.88 before recovering to $38.07 by the end of 2025. In 2025 the company generated about $8.247 billion in total revenue (net interest income of roughly $5.853 billion and noninterest income of about $2.394 billion), with year-end loans of approximately $142.7 billion and deposits of about $183.3 billion.
業界での地位
Citizens Financial Group is a mid-to-large U.S. regional bank, with its primary earnings engine being net interest income from spread-based lending, supplemented by noninterest fee income from wealth management, capital markets, cards, mortgage and service fees. It serves retail, wealth, private banking, small business, middle-market and institutional clients through a regional network rather than depending on a small number of large accounts. The company identifies KeyCorp, Regions, Fifth Third, M&T, Truist, Huntington, PNC, U.S. Bancorp and Comerica as comparable peers, placing it within the field of mid-to-large U.S. regional and super-regional banks. Its competitive position rests on relationship- and region-based sources such as deposit relationships, branch presence, commercial cash management ties, and wealth and private banking cross-selling, along with the banking charter, compliance framework and regulatory capital requirements that form industry-wide entry barriers; switching costs exist through account relationships, payment habits, credit lines and wealth advisory but are not as binding as those of exchanges or clearing networks. On disclosed profitability, full-year 2025 ROTCE was 11.2% (12.2% in the fourth quarter of 2025) and year-end CET1 was 10.6%, while private banking deposits reached $14.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025.
