沿革
Church & Dwight Co., Inc. was founded in 1846 and is headquartered in Ewing, New Jersey. The company develops, manufactures, and markets household, personal care, and specialty products, operating through three segments: Consumer Domestic, Consumer International, and the Specialty Products Division. Its anchor ARM & HAMMER brand, built on sodium bicarbonate, has been extended across laundry, cat litter, oral care, and deodorizing categories. The company acquired most of its power brands after 2001, and from 2024 through early 2026 actively reshaped its portfolio: it made a small 2024 acquisition of Japanese distributor Graphico, acquired Touchland in 2025 for roughly $700 million plus up to a $180 million earnout, divested its vitamins (VMS) business, and exited the Flawless, Spinbrush, and Waterpik showerhead businesses. A CEO transition occurred in 2025, with Matthew Farrell retiring on April 1, 2025 and Richard Dierker becoming CEO from April 2, 2025. Revenue grew from $4.358 billion in 2019 to $6.203 billion in 2025; in 2024 consumer products sales were about $5.8 billion and specialty products about $303 million, and the company employs roughly 5,550 people.
業界での地位
Church & Dwight is a leading U.S. household and personal products company and the leading U.S. producer of sodium bicarbonate. Its ARM & HAMMER products reach about 86% of U.S. households. The company's main competitive sources are brand strength, retail and e-commerce distribution, scale, and operating capability rather than patents or network effects. In 2024 its top seven power brands accounted for about 70% of net sales and profit, up in concentration from 2021 when 14 power brands made up about 80%. Distribution spans supermarkets, mass merchandisers, wholesale clubs, drugstores, pet and specialty stores, and e-commerce, with online representing about 21.4% of consumer sales in 2024 and 22.9% in the first quarter of 2025. Customer concentration is significant: the four largest customers were about 43% of 2024 sales, with Walmart about 23%. The company sources much of its soda ash through Tata Chemicals (Soda Ash) Partners, supporting raw-material integration, and runs an "Evergreen business model" targeting 3% organic growth and 8% EPS growth. Its stated competitors include P&G, Clorox, Colgate-Palmolive, S.C. Johnson, Nestle Purina, Nestle Health Science, Haleon, Henkel, and Reckitt.
