Credo Technology Group was founded in 2008 by a group of former Marvell high-speed interconnect engineers, with co-founders Lawrence Cheng (Chi Fung Cheng), now CTO, and Job Lam (Yat Tung Lam), now COO; Bill Brennan joined as CEO in 2013. After roughly a decade developing in-house SerDes IP, Walden International led its first VC round in 2015, it collaborated early with Tesla's Dojo supercomputer in 2017, and it was a founding member of the HiWire alliance whose first AEC specification appeared in 2020. The company IPO'd on Nasdaq on 2022-01-27 at $10 per share, with the Cayman-registered holding entity operating through subsidiaries in the United States, Mainland China, and Hong Kong. In May 2026 it completed the acquisition of silicon-photonics firm DustPhotonics for about $750 million and Hyperlume for about $92 million.
