沿革
Everest Group, Ltd. was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, and the company conducted its IPO on October 2, 1995. Formerly known as Everest Re Group, Ltd., it changed its name to Everest Group, Ltd. in July 2023. At the end of 2025 the company operated under two reporting segments, Reinsurance and Insurance, but by the first quarter of 2026, after selling part of its commercial retail insurance renewal rights to AIG, it reorganized into three reporting segments: Reinsurance Treaty, Global Wholesale & Specialty, and Legacy. During 2025 the company also placed adverse development cover on its North American long-tail liabilities and completed a leadership transition, with former CEO Juan Andrade departing in January 2025 and Jim Williamson serving first as acting CEO and then as permanent CEO, alongside a change of chairman. By the end of 2025 the company had grown to total assets of 62.514 billion U.S. dollars and shareholders' equity of 15.461 billion U.S. dollars, with about 3,064 employees, and management describes it as a global underwriter with a 50-year history.
業界での地位
Everest Group operates as a global property and casualty reinsurance and commercial insurance underwriting platform, with a business network spanning more than 100 countries across six continents. In 2025 reinsurance accounted for about 72.4% of gross written premium and insurance about 27.1%. Per A.M. Best's global reinsurance ranking, Everest has moved into the front ranks of the world's largest reinsurers, and A.M. Best's public summary notes it rose to a leading position among non-IFRS 17 players. Its main competitors include Arch Capital, RenaissanceRe, Chubb, and W. R. Berkley. The company's competitive position rests on a combination of factors rather than a single advantage: its active subsidiaries hold A.M. Best A+, S&P A+, and Moody's A1 financial strength ratings, which serve as a key basis for client selection, and under reinsurance contracts a rating below A- can allow some cedents to terminate contracts or demand collateral; its scale, broker relationships (the top ten brokers contribute about 60.9% of gross premium, with Marsh McLennan at about 22.4% and Aon at about 18.7%), and licenses held across Bermuda, the United States, Ireland, Lloyd's, Canada, Australia, and Singapore add further barriers. Customer concentration is low, with no single client contributing more than 3.6% of gross premium in 2025 and no single program administrator exceeding 4.3%.
