沿革
Kimberly-Clark Corporation was founded in 1872 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with an IPO date of December 17, 1984. It has grown into a global consumer staples company whose products are sold across 175+ countries and regions under brands including Huggies, Kleenex, Scott, Kotex, Cottonelle, Poise, and Depend. The company is now organized around a North America segment and an International Personal Care segment, while its International Family Care & Professional (IFP) business is being treated as discontinued operations; 2025 revenue across these areas was roughly 10.8 billion, 5.7 billion, and 3.3 billion respectively. In 2025 the company on a continuing-operations basis recorded revenue of 16.4 billion and operating profit of 2.4 billion. Since launching its Powering Care initiative in 2024, the company has pursued a major restructuring, including forming a joint venture combining the IFP business with Suzano and announcing a cash-and-stock acquisition of Kenvue that is expected to add about 280 million new KMB shares and roughly 6.7 billion in cash; it also disclosed reaching 54 consecutive years of dividend increases.
業界での地位
Kimberly-Clark operates in the mature household and personal products industry under a traditional brand, manufacturing, and distribution model, processing inputs such as fiber, pulp, polypropylene, and superabsorbent materials into tissue, diapers, feminine care, adult incontinence, and professional products sold through supermarkets, mass merchandisers, drugstores, warehouse clubs, distributors, and e-commerce. The company reports that its brands hold a number one or number two share position in about 70 countries, and it operates manufacturing facilities in 30 countries (including equity affiliates). Its strongest industry competitor is Procter & Gamble, whose Baby, Feminine & Family Care segment recorded fiscal 2025 net sales of about 20.248 billion with high overlap to KMB's core categories; KMB has acknowledged that many of its competitors are larger and more diversified. Competition centers on brand recognition and loyalty, product innovation, quality and performance, price, and marketing and distribution capability. Walmart accounted for about 16% of KMB's continuing-operations sales, and on a 2025 continuing-operations basis the company reported organic sales growth of 1.7%, with volume up 2.5% and net price down 0.9%.
