Otis Worldwide Corporation engages in manufacturing, installation, and servicing of elevators and escalators in the United States, China, and internationally. The company operates in two segments, New Equipment and Service. The New Equipment segment designs, manufactures, sells, and installs a range of passenger and freight elevators, as well as escalators and moving walkways for residential and commercial buildings, and infrastructure projects. This segment serves real-estate and building developers, and general contractors. It sells its products directly to customers, as well as through agents and distributors. The Service segment performs maintenance and repair services, as well as modernization services to upgrade elevators and escalators. Otis Worldwide Corporation was founded in 1853 and is headquartered in Farmington, Connecticut.

沿革

Otis Worldwide Corporation was founded in 1853 and is headquartered in Farmington, Connecticut. It became a separately listed public company through a spin-off, with its IPO dated March 19, 2020; separation-related adjustments and a payment obligation to RTX persisted into later years, and 2020 represented the early post-spin period. The company operates through two segments, New Equipment and Service, and by year-end 2025 served customers in more than 200 countries and regions with over 1,400 branches and offices and a direct physical presence in over 70 countries. Its maintenance portfolio expanded from more than 2.1 million units disclosed in 2021 to roughly 2.5 million customer units by the end of 2025, supported by about 45,000 field professionals; around 1.1 million of those units were connected, and subscription revenue grew 35% in 2025. Revenue rose from $12.76 billion in 2020 to $14.43 billion in 2025, while diluted share count declined from 434.6 million in 2020 to 394.9 million in 2025 (about 389.6 million by the first quarter of 2026). Judy Marks has served as President since 2017, Chief Executive Officer since 2019, and Chair since 2022.

業界での地位

Otis is a leading global manufacturer, installer, and servicer of elevators and escalators, operating in a mature, globally fragmented industry with high entry barriers and long-term demand, since installed equipment generates maintenance, repair, and modernization needs for decades. In 2025 its New Equipment segment generated $4.989 billion in revenue and $0.240 billion in operating profit, while its Service segment generated $9.442 billion in revenue and $2.374 billion in operating profit; Service accounted for about 65% of revenue but roughly 91% of segment operating profit. The company's competitive position rests on its installed base, local service network, safety and compliance capabilities, and brand trust, reinforced by switching costs tied to safety, downtime, regulatory compliance, and passenger experience; its 2025 gross margin was 30.3%. Otis serves a broad customer base with no single material customer and relies on thousands of suppliers, about 400 of which are key manufacturing suppliers, with no single supplier representing a material dependency. Its principal global competitors include KONE, Schindler, and TK Elevator; in April 2026 Reuters reported that KONE announced an acquisition of TK Elevator that, if completed after a 12-18 month regulatory review, would form the world's largest elevator company surpassing Otis.
