沿革

Ralph Lauren Corporation was founded in 1967 and is based in New York, New York, building a brand with nearly 60 years of history. The company went public on June 11, 1997. Over time it expanded from apparel into five product categories—apparel, footwear and accessories, home, fragrance, and hospitality—and developed a brand pyramid spanning Ralph Lauren Collection, Purple Label, Polo Ralph Lauren, Double RL, Lauren Ralph Lauren, RLX, Polo Ralph Lauren Children, and Chaps, alongside a hospitality footprint including The Polo Bar in New York City, RL Restaurant in Chicago, Ralph's in Paris, The Bar at Ralph Lauren in Milan, Ralph's Bar in Chengdu, and the Ralph's Coffee concept. The business evolved into a combination of brand design, directly operated retail/DTC, wholesale, and licensing, organized into North America, Europe, and Asia reporting segments. By FY2026 the company generated net revenue of $8.115 billion (North America about $3.330 billion, Europe about $2.539 billion, Asia about $2.104 billion, and other non-reportable segments about $142.5 million), with roughly 59% of revenue from outside the United States, and operated 594 directly operated retail stores, 644 concession shop-in-shops, about 9,500 major full-price wholesale doors, and about 110 third-party digital wholesale partners. Revenue grew from $6.219 billion in FY2022 to $8.115 billion in FY2026 (a CAGR of roughly 6.9%), while diluted share count was reduced from 82.7 million in FY2017 to 62.3 million in FY2026.

業界での地位

Ralph Lauren operates as a global premium lifestyle brand company within a mature, intensely competitive global fashion and premium lifestyle industry that McKinsey characterized as low-single-digit growth for 2026 and that Bain and Altagamma estimated at about -2% for personal luxury in 2025 at current exchange rates. Its distinctiveness lies in combining American classic lifestyle positioning with a multi-price brand pyramid and a global mix of DTC, wholesale, and licensing channels. The sources of its competitive position are brand strength, channel and operational capability, and capital-allocation discipline rather than cost or network effects: the company raised its FY2026 gross margin to 69.9% through higher average unit retail, premiumization, reduced discounting, and increased full-price selling, and in FY2026 acquired 6.5 million new direct-to-consumer customers and reached roughly 70 million social-media followers. Manufacturing is fully outsourced to independent third-party factories, with about 21% of FY2026 product sourced from Vietnam, 16% from Cambodia, and 11% from India, and about 96% produced outside the United States; its three largest wholesale customers together accounted for about 11% of FY2026 revenue. Ralph Lauren and his family control roughly 85% of total voting power through Class B shares. Among comparable peers, PVH skews toward a larger lifestyle brand portfolio, Tapestry toward a lighter-luxury leather goods and accessories platform, and Capri remains in brand repair and debt/asset restructuring.
