It was formerly known as Willis Group Holdings Public Limited Company and changed its name to Willis Towers Watson Public Limited Company in January 2016, with its IPO dated January 5, 2016. The company has grown into a global advisory, broking, and solutions firm with roughly 47,000 employees operating across more than 140 countries and markets, organized into two segments: Health, Wealth & Career (HWC) and Risk & Broking (R&B). In 2025, HWC contributed about 55% of segment revenue ($5.254 billion) and R&B about 45% ($4.334 billion). In recent years the company completed a multi-year operational transformation; its diluted share count declined from 129 million in 2021 to 99 million in 2025 and to 96 million by the first quarter of 2026. In January 2026 WTW completed its acquisition of Newfront for upfront consideration of $1.05 billion (approximately $900 million in cash and $150 million in replacement equity awards), and it is also advancing the acquisition of Cushon.
