연혁

Agilent Technologies was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, completing its IPO on November 18, 1999; it now employs about 18,000 people. The company operates through three segments: Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets, Agilent CrossLab, and Applied Markets, and over the past decade has shifted from one-time instrument sales toward monetizing its installed base, with non-instrument businesses contributing roughly 80% of revenue growth. By FY2025 it supported approximately 285,000 laboratories and more than 750,000 instruments, and posted revenue of $6.948 billion. Leadership turned over recently: Padraig McDonnell became CEO in May 2024, and after CFO Robert McMahon resigned in July 2025, Adam Elinoff was appointed CFO in November 2025. Acquisitions have become more prominent, including the 2024 purchase of BIOVECTRA for $915 million in cash to strengthen its CDMO capabilities and a March 2026 agreement to acquire Biocare Medical for $950 million in cash to expand pathology diagnostics, while in 2023 the company exited and wrote down Resolution Bioscience; the diluted share count declined from about 306.2 million at the end of 2020 to roughly 282.7 million in Q1 FY2026.

Agilent provides analytical instruments, software, services, consumables, and application support to laboratories serving the life sciences, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, food, environmental, forensics, chemical, and advanced-materials markets. In FY2025, segment revenue was $2.726 billion for Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets, $2.908 billion for Agilent CrossLab, and $1.314 billion for Applied Markets; by revenue type, instrument revenue was $2.427 billion versus non-instrument revenue of $4.521 billion. Its largest end market in FY2025 was Pharma and Biopharma at $2.507 billion, and no single customer accounted for more than 10% of revenue or accounts receivable. In its 10-K, Agilent identifies principal competitors including Thermo Fisher, Danaher's AB Sciex and Leica, Roche Ventana, Shimadzu, Waters, and Bruker, and describes its markets as rapidly evolving and highly competitive across product performance, reliability, application capability, support quality, global channel coverage, and price. The company states that no single patent, license, or intellectual property is individually material; its differentiation instead rests on brand and reputation, validated performance, installed base, service and global distribution networks, regulatory and compliance experience, and customer switching costs, with the CrossLab segment carrying an FY2025 operating margin of 32.5%.
