연혁

Aptiv PLC was incorporated in 2011 and is based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland; its shares began trading via an IPO on November 17, 2011. The company is an industrial technology supplier of hardware and software to the automotive and other industries, employing roughly 140,000 people. A defining transformation came on April 1, 2026, when Aptiv spun off its Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) business into a separately listed company, Versigent, which Versigent ceased to be consolidated from that date and Aptiv began reporting the former EDS business as discontinued operations from the second quarter of 2026, producing what is described as "New Aptiv." In the spin-off, Versigent made an initial cash allocation of $2.125 billion to Aptiv, of which Aptiv planned to use about $2.113 billion to repay debt. Aptiv had earlier acquired Wind River, and in 2025 it recognized a $648 million non-cash goodwill impairment related to Wind River, attributed by management to slower-than-expected 5G adoption and software-defined-vehicle program rollouts. On a historical consolidated basis revenue grew from about $13.1 billion in 2020 to $15.6 billion (2021), $17.5 billion (2022) and $20.1 billion (2023), before $19.7 billion in 2024. Following the spin-off Aptiv positions its business around two core segments, Intelligent Systems and Engineered Components.

업계 내 위치

Aptiv is a global automotive technology supplier whose core offering, after the April 2026 EDS spin-off, is built around Intelligent Systems (intelligent sensing, advanced compute, software and services) and Engineered Components (connection systems, high-performance interconnects, cable management and protection for the distribution of power, signal and data). Its customer base spans the world's major OEMs and is said to include the 25 largest automotive OEMs globally; concentration is notable, with the top ten customers accounting for about 55% of first-quarter 2026 total net sales and a single global OEM accounting for about 11%. The company operates 76 manufacturing facilities and 11 major technical centers across 23 countries, supporting the engineering and manufacturing network required for global OEM supply. For 2026 the company guided to pro forma revenue of $12.8–13.2 billion, Adjusted EBITDA of $2.36–2.48 billion and free cash flow of $0.65–0.85 billion. Sources of its competitive position include switching costs (once a vehicle platform is sourced, changing suppliers involves validation, functional safety, software adaptation, vehicle integration and volume-production risk), scale and global delivery capability, engineering and operations spanning sensor-to-cloud, and compliance/validation barriers tied to safety, connectivity, electrical-architecture and automotive-grade software. Principal competitors cited include Lear (automotive Seating and E-Systems), BorgWarner (clean and efficient mobility systems and eProducts), Visteon (cockpit electronics and software-defined vehicles), and TE Connectivity (transport and industrial connectors).
