The company is organized into three reporting segments: North America Automotive Parts Group, International Automotive Parts Group, and Industrial Parts Group. In 2025 these segments accounted for roughly 39%, 24%, and 37% of total sales, respectively, with 2025 sales of $24.3 billion and about 65,000 employees. Its automotive business operates under NAPA and Canada's UAP in North America, and under brands including AAG, Repco, and NAPA in Europe and Australia/New Zealand, while the industrial business operates mainly under Motion. Growth has been driven substantially by acquisitions: acquisition spending was about $1.68 billion in 2022, $1.08 billion in 2024, and $318 million in 2025, and in 2025 the company completed more than 50 acquisitions, adding more than 250 locations. Diluted share count declined from 145.1 million in 2020 to 139.25 million in 2025. William P. Stengel, II became president and CEO in June 2024 and was set to become chairman after the 2026 annual meeting, while Bert Nappier became CFO in May 2022. The company has announced a target of splitting its global automotive and global industrial businesses into two separate publicly traded companies in the first quarter of 2027, though it notes the transaction may not be completed as planned.
Posição no setor
Genuine Parts Company is a distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts, serving the automotive aftermarket and industrial MRO markets rather than manufacturing parts. Its combined global automotive and industrial serviceable market exceeds $350 billion, against 2025 sales of $24.3 billion. The automotive business serves more than 1 million customer locations, with roughly 80% of sales from DIFM (commercial repair and service) customers and about 20% from DIY retail customers; the industrial business serves more than 180,000 customers across about 900,000 locations, with national accounts representing about 45% of industrial annual sales. The company operates dense distribution networks: in North America automotive, 76 distribution centers, 2,471 company-owned stores, and 4,317 independent stores; in international automotive, 85 distribution centers and 3,199 outlets; and in industrial, 755 distribution, branch, and service centers. Its U.S. automotive business carries more than 1 million SKUs, and the NAPA Auto Care network covers more than 20,000 repair centers in North America. Listed automotive aftermarket competitors include O'Reilly, AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and LKQ, while industrial distribution peers include W.W. Grainger, Fastenal, and MSC; the aftermarket remains fragmented, with much of it made up of many small local competitors. Differentiation comes from channel density, brand, inventory depth, and local fulfillment—most industrial orders are delivered within 24 hours—along with data and analytics for inventory placement and value-added services such as vendor-managed inventory, RFID asset management, and repair services. Gross margin rose from 36.3% to 36.8% in 2025.
