История
Veeva Systems was incorporated in 2007 under the name Verticals onDemand, Inc. and changed its name to Veeva Systems Inc. in April 2009; it is headquartered in Pleasanton, California, and went public on October 16, 2013. The company built its life-sciences software around four product clouds (Development Cloud, Quality Cloud, Commercial Cloud, and Data Cloud), which it reports financially in two segments, Commercial Solutions and R&D and Quality Solutions. In 2021 it converted to a Public Benefit Corporation, and in October 2023 its Class B shares were converted to Class A, moving it to a single class of common stock. A central transition underway is the migration of its legacy Veeva CRM, which runs on the Salesforce platform, to Vault CRM on Veeva's own Vault platform; the legacy Veeva CRM is expected to be supported through December 31, 2029, and by the end of FY2026 more than 125 customers were live on Vault CRM with 10 of the top 20 biopharma companies committed to it globally. By the close of FY2026 the company had grown to revenue of $3.195 billion (of which subscription revenue was $2.684 billion), 1,552 customers, and 7,928 employees.
Положение в отрасли
Veeva is a vertical software provider focused exclusively on the life sciences industry, serving pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and diagnostics customers across commercial, clinical, regulatory, quality, and data workflows. At the end of FY2026 it served 1,552 customers, with 767 in Commercial Solutions and 1,196 in R&D and Quality Solutions, and its FY2026 subscription gross margin of 87% reflected a software- and data-centric model. In its 10-K the company identifies its principal competitors as IQVIA, Dassault Systemes, Oracle, OpenText, and Honeywell, along with data-focused competitors such as Ipsos and Definitive Health; among these IQVIA is the closest public comparable, with 2025 revenue of $16.31 billion and Technology & Analytics Solutions revenue of $6.626 billion, making it broader and larger in scope while Veeva is more software-focused and more concentrated in life sciences. Veeva's differentiation rests on high switching costs, since its system-of-record products on the Vault platform are embedded in documents, data, workflows, and regulated processes subject to requirements such as the FDA's 21 CFR Part 11 for electronic records and signatures, which demand audit trails, validation, and access controls; on scale and a suite effect across its product clouds; on reference selling, where the company depends on recommendations from key customers to win new ones; and on data assets across Data Cloud, Crossix, and Compass that combine connected reference data, deep data, and transaction data. Management has described the life sciences industry it addresses as more than $2 trillion in size with long-term growth above 6%, and estimated its own serviceable market at more than $20 billion with FY2025E penetration of about 14%.
