Exelon Corporation, a utility services holding company, engages in the energy distribution and transmission businesses in the United States. The company is involved in the purchase and regulated retail sale of electricity and natural gas; transmission and distribution of electricity; and distribution of natural gas to retail customers. It serves residential, commercial, industrial, and public authorities and electric railroads customers. Exelon Corporation was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

Exelon Corporation traces its public listing to an IPO dated January 2, 1980, and the present holding company was incorporated in 1999, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Once an integrated energy group with substantial generation operations, Exelon completed the spin-off of Constellation in February 2022, after which it became a holding company centered on regulated transmission and distribution utilities. In a separate matter, ComEd entered a deferred prosecution agreement in July 2020 and paid $200 million, with the three-year term ending July 17, 2023.
