Historique
Goldwind was founded in 1998 in Xinjiang and is headquartered in Beijing. It listed its A-shares on the Shenzhen exchange in 2007 and its H-shares in Hong Kong in 2010, growing into a leading wind-turbine manufacturer in China and globally. Technologically it began with direct-drive permanent-magnet machines and now runs a dual-track of direct-drive plus medium-speed permanent-magnet platforms. From 2020 to 2023 the industry endured a severe price war: onshore turbine tender prices (excluding towers) fell from roughly RMB 3,000-4,000/kW in mid-2020 to about RMB 1,500/kW by 2023, with low bids dropping below RMB 1,000/kW, and Goldwind's manufacturing-segment gross margin was compressed to just 0.16% in 2023 while net profit attributable to shareholders fell 44% to RMB 1.331 billion. In October 2024 the wind-energy committee organized Goldwind and 11 other turbine makers (12 in total, covering over 99% of capacity) to sign an anti-involution self-discipline pact barring below-cost bidding, after which tender prices stabilized and recovered. Profit then rose for two consecutive years, with net profit attributable to shareholders reaching RMB 1.860 billion in 2024 (+40%) and RMB 2.774 billion in 2025 (+49%), and the manufacturing gross margin recovering stepwise from 0.16% to 5.05% to 8.95%. For FY2025 the company reported revenue of RMB 73.023 billion (+28.79%), and it now operates through three main segments-wind turbine and component sales (about 78% of revenue), wind-farm investment and development (about 12%), and wind-power services (about 8%)-with roughly 11,890 employees.
Position dans le secteur
Goldwind is the world's largest wind-turbine manufacturer. Per BloombergNEF, in 2025 it ranked first globally in new installations for the fourth consecutive year with about 29.3GW, well ahead of second-place Envision at 20.9GW, and it topped China's offshore wind turbine market for the first time with a 37.9% share, surpassing Mingyang. In 2025 the global top six turbine makers were all Chinese companies for the first time-Goldwind, Envision, Mingyang, Yunda, Sany and Dongfang Electric-with Vestas falling to seventh, its first time outside the top five since the ranking began in 2013, and Chinese manufacturers held roughly 67% of the global market. Domestically, by CWEA installation data Goldwind led in 2024 with about 21.5% share, ahead of Envision, Mingyang, Yunda and Sany, with the top five totaling about 75%; in global offshore it still ranked second behind Siemens Energy. Its competitive position rests on a combination of manufacturing scale (the largest shipment volume plus 15-plus years of permanent-magnet technology), owned wind-farm operating assets (about 9.95GW of cumulative equity grid-connected capacity and 2.52GW under construction, generating 18.33 billion kWh), and aftermarket operations and maintenance covering over 50GW of capacity, though none of these is a deep barrier given that turbines are a commoditized, cyclical capital good. Internationally, 2025 overseas revenue reached RMB 18.082 billion (+50.59%), about 24.76% of the total, with an overseas turbine gross margin of about 13.8%-more than double the domestic manufacturing level of 5.1%-and cumulative international installations exceeded 12.6GW across 49 countries on six continents, with overseas orders in hand of 9.27GW.
