沿革

Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited was founded in 1958 and is headquartered in Chengdu, China. It was formerly known as Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited in January 2008. The company operates as a subsidiary of its controlling shareholder, the central state-owned Dongfang Electric Corporation, and employs about 18,753 people across an A-share and H-share dual-listing platform. Over time it built a "six power types in parallel" structure spanning wind, solar, hydro, nuclear, gas, and thermal power, with core operating entities including Dongfang Electric Machinery, Dongfang Turbine, Dongfang Boiler, Dongfang Heavy Machinery, Dongfang Wind Power, and Dongfang Automatic Control; its business is organized into five segments (Renewable Energy Equipment, High-Efficient Clean Energy Equipment, Engineering and Supply Chain, Modern Manufacturing Services, and Emerging Growth Industries), and its products and services have been exported to nearly 110 countries and regions. The company has scaled steadily as an order-driven heavy-equipment manufacturer: total revenue rose from RMB 55.364 billion in 2022 to RMB 60.677 billion in 2023, RMB 69.695 billion in 2024, and RMB 78.615 billion in 2025, while newly effective orders grew to about RMB 86.532 billion in 2023, RMB 101.142 billion in 2024, and RMB 117.3 billion in 2025; total assets reached about RMB 162.674 billion in 2025 on roughly 3.458 billion total shares. In 2024 the company advanced a private placement of A-shares to raise up to RMB 5 billion, partly to acquire minority stakes in Dongfang Electric Machinery, Dongfang Turbine, Dongfang Boiler, and Dongfang Heavy Machinery and to fund R&D and manufacturing investment.

業界での地位

Dongfang Electric is a platform-type leader in China's power-generation equipment chain and describes itself as one of the world's largest power generation equipment suppliers and power-station engineering general contractors. Rather than betting on a single technology, it covers the full spectrum of thermal, hydro, nuclear, gas, wind, and solar power and holds deep capabilities across each: in wind it spans onshore 1.5MW–10MW+ and offshore 5MW–26MW full series with more than 15,000 wind turbines cumulatively installed; in nuclear it holds complete design qualifications for nuclear class 1/2/3 equipment; in hydro it can develop large units up to the 1000MW class; in gas it offers GTCC turnkey design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and after-sales capability; and in thermal its unit capacity ranges from 50MW to 1350MW. Its competitive position rests on regulatory and licensing barriers (nuclear equipment design and manufacturing licenses are among the hardest), scale, accumulated technical and system-integration experience, major first-of-a-kind project records, supply-chain organization, and the credit and customer trust of a central state-owned enterprise, which together create switching costs for large power-station clients. Its main competitors are generally domestic comprehensive heavy power-equipment groups such as Shanghai Electric and Harbin Electric, along with specialized manufacturers in individual segments. Pricing power is uneven: it is stronger in nuclear and heavy gas turbines but weak in tender-driven segments such as wind, where the wind business gross margin was only 2.8% in 2025.
