Airbus SE, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, manufacture, and delivery of aeronautics and aerospace products, services, and solutions worldwide. It operates through three segments: Airbus, Airbus Helicopters, and Airbus Defence and Space. The Airbus segment develops, manufactures, markets, and sells commercial jet passenger aircraft, freighter aircraft, regional turboprop aircraft, and aircraft components, as well as provides aircraft conversion and related services. The Airbus Helicopters segment develops, manufactures, markets, and sells civil and military helicopters; and provides uncrewed aerial systems and their related services. The Airbus Defence and Space segment designs, develops, delivers, and supports crewed and uncrewed military air systems and related services. This segment also offers civil and defence space systems for telecommunications, earth observations, navigation, and science and orbital systems; and services around data processing from platforms, secure communication, and cyber security. The company was formerly known as Airbus Group SE and changed its name to Airbus SE in April 2017. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is headquartered in Leiden, the Netherlands.

沿革

Airbus originated from European industrial policy: a 1967 French-German-British ministerial agreement called for building a "large aircraft" able to rival the US aviation industry. In July 2000, France's Aerospatiale-Matra, Germany's DASA, and Spain's CASA merged into EADS, listed simultaneously in France, Germany, and Spain. The group renamed itself Airbus Group in 2014 and shortened the name to Airbus in 2017, and remains registered in the Netherlands with Paris as its main market and French, German, and Spanish government holding platforms (SOGEPA, GZBV, SEPI) as anchor shareholders. In 2020, per a US DOJ announcement, Airbus agreed to pay over $3.9 billion in global penalties to resolve anti-corruption and ITAR cases.

業界での地位

Airbus is one of Europe's two civil-aircraft duopoly players, operating across three segments: commercial aircraft, helicopters, and defence and space. Its commercial aircraft are its main profit engine, led by the A320neo family and the A350, with the A321XLR extending single-aisle range to roughly 8,700 km and reaching markets that previously required widebodies. In its annual report, Airbus regards Boeing's 737 series and COMAC's C919 as the A320 family's main competitors. As of the first quarter of 2026, the A320neo family held about 60% of the single-aisle backlog and the commercial-aircraft order book reached 9,037 aircraft.
