沿革
DaVita Inc. was incorporated in 1994 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, providing kidney dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure in the United States. The company completed its IPO on October 31, 1995, and was formerly known as DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. before changing its name to DaVita Inc. in September 2016. Beyond its core outpatient dialysis centers, the business has expanded into related clinical lab services, hospital inpatient and home-based dialysis, international dialysis operations, and integrated kidney care (IKC) for chronic and end-stage kidney disease patients under risk-based arrangements. By the end of 2025 the company served approximately 200,500 US dialysis patients across 2,657 US outpatient centers, ran 585 international centers in 14 countries serving about 94,500 patients, and provided IKC services to roughly 66,000 risk-based and 9,400 other integrated care patients; by March 31, 2026 it served approximately 296,300 patients globally across 3,262 centers, of which 2,666 were in the US. The company employs about 78,000 people, and 2025 consolidated revenue reached USD 13.643 billion, with US dialysis revenue of USD 11.793 billion.
業界での地位
DaVita operates in the highly concentrated US outpatient dialysis industry, where it estimated holding approximately 36% of the US dialysis market by patient count in 2022. Its largest competitor is Fresenius Medical Care, which additionally manufactures dialysis equipment and supplies, giving it a vertically integrated profile; Fresenius disclosed 3,539 dialysis clinics globally serving about 289,923 patients in the first quarter of 2026 and completed roughly 44 million dialysis treatments in 2025. The market is led by these two large players supplemented by regional participants rather than being fragmented. In 2025 about 86% of DaVita's consolidated revenue came from its US dialysis business. The company's competitive position rests on factual sources including scale across its US center network, clinical workflows and payor and physician relationships; regulatory and licensing barriers such as Medicare ESRD program qualification, medical director requirements, and certificate-of-need approvals for center expansion in some states; and switching costs arising because dialysis patients typically require multiple treatments per week and are affected by distance from home, treatment scheduling, physician coordination, referral relationships, and insurance network coverage.
