沿革
Generac Holdings Inc. was founded in 1959 and is based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The company designs, manufactures, and distributes energy technology products and solutions worldwide, including residential automatic standby and portable generators, commercial and industrial (C&I) generators, energy storage, and energy-management devices and software. It completed its initial public offering on February 11, 2010, and employs about 9,400 people. Aaron Jagdfeld has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2008, has been a director since 2006, and also serves as Chairman, giving the company strong leadership continuity. Revenue grew from about $2.023 billion in 2018 to about $4.209 billion in 2025. In recent years Generac extended its business beyond traditional power-generation equipment into energy storage, energy management, and software; by 2025 product revenue was roughly $2.267 billion residential, $1.457 billion C&I, and $0.485 billion other (about 54% residential, 35% C&I, and 11% other), with service revenue at about 4% of net sales. The company has expanded through frequent acquisitions, including Huntington, a C&I battery energy storage business, Ageto, and Wolverine in 2024, and Allmand for about $122.8 million in cash in the first quarter of 2026. It has also returned capital through share repurchases of about $251.5 million in 2023, $152.7 million in 2024, and $147.9 million in 2025, reducing the diluted weighted-average share count from about 64.68 million in 2022 to about 59.28 million in 2025, a decline of roughly 8.4%.
業界での地位
Generac is a leading North American power-resilience equipment company, describing itself as a global designer, manufacturer, and provider of energy technology solutions spanning power generation, energy storage, energy management, and other power products and services. In residential standby generators, Generac is one of the default brands for many North American consumers and installers, where the brand stands for reliable, familiar, installable, and serviceable products. Its competitive advantages come primarily from brand, its dealer, installation, and aftermarket service and parts network, product certifications, and scale in component procurement, product-line coverage, R&D, regulatory certification, and distribution support that smaller competitors find hard to match. Because installing a home standby generator involves sizing, permitting, fuel hookup, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance, the depth of this channel network directly affects conversion, delivery speed, and after-sale experience; post-installation maintenance, parts, repairs, and reliance on a familiar local installer create moderate switching costs on the residential side, while project certification, service networks, and reliability records raise switching costs on the C&I side. Customer concentration is relatively limited: in 2025 no single customer accounted for more than 4% of net sales and the top ten customers together represented about 18%. Generac distributes through independent residential dealers and contractors, industrial distributors and dealers, national and regional retailers, e-commerce partners, electrical, HVAC, and solar wholesalers, solar installers, catalogs, equipment rental companies, and other distributors, as well as directly to end users. In C&I, data center, energy storage, and energy-management markets it faces a more complex competitive landscape, with named peers in the broader power and industrial space including Eaton, Cummins, and Vertiv.
