沿革

Leidos Holdings, Inc. was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Reston, Virginia. The company completed its IPO on October 13, 2006. Revenue grew steadily from $13.737 billion in fiscal 2021 to $17.174 billion in fiscal 2025, a compound annual growth rate of roughly 5%-6%. In 2023 the SES reporting unit recorded a $596 million goodwill impairment, which pulled operating profit down to $621 million before earnings and cash flow recovered in 2024-2025. In fiscal 2025 the company operated four reporting segments (National Security & Digital, Health & Civil, Commercial & International, and Defense Systems); by the first quarter of fiscal 2026 it had reorganized into four new segments: Intelligence & Digital, Health, Homeland, and Defense. The company has actively reshaped its portfolio under its NorthStar 2030 strategy, acquiring Kudu Dynamics and Entrust (a $2.4 billion cash acquisition completed around the first quarter of 2026) and combining its SES/Industrial Automation businesses with Analogic into a joint venture. Headcount was about 47,000 in fiscal 2025 and about 50,000 globally as of the first quarter of fiscal 2026. Through ongoing dividends and buybacks, year-end shares outstanding fell from about 140 million in 2021 to about 126.4 million in 2025, and further to about 125.8 million by the end of April 2026.

業界での地位

Leidos is the largest U.S. government technology and engineering contractor, providing mission-critical digital, intelligence, defense-systems, health, infrastructure-engineering, and security-screening solutions primarily to the U.S. government. In fiscal 2025 about 87% of revenue came from U.S. government contracts, with roughly 49% from the Department of Defense and the intelligence community; customers include the DoD, the intelligence community, the Department of Homeland Security, the FAA, the Department of Veterans Affairs, health and human services agencies, and the Department of Energy. On Washington Technology's 2025 Top 100 Government Contractors list Leidos ranked first, with contract value of about $11.7 billion, ahead of Booz Allen, SAIC, and CACI. Its principal competitors, as listed in the company's 10-K, include Booz Allen, CACI, SAIC, Parsons, KBR, Lockheed Martin, Northrop, General Dynamics, IBM, and Accenture Federal. The company's competitive position rests on regulatory and clearance barriers, scale, customer switching costs, and past-performance records rather than on consumer brand, patents, or network effects: about 53% of employees hold U.S. security clearances, and CMMC cybersecurity requirements being phased in from 2025 to 2028 further raise contractor entry barriers. The company states that its technology services and products generally do not depend on patent protection. Its revenue mix by contract type in fiscal 2025 was about 44% cost-reimbursement and FPIF, 43% firm-fixed-price, and 13% time-and-materials and FPLOE.
