沿革
Nokia traces its roots to an 1865 pulp mill; in 1967 three Finnish firms in pulp, rubber, and cable merged into Nokia Corporation, headquartered in Espoo, Finland. After making digital switches and car phones in the 1980s, it became the global mobile phone leader through the GSM era. Its primary listing dates to Helsinki in 1915; US trading began via an ADR program launched in 1994. After selling its Devices & Services handset unit to Microsoft in 2014, it acquired Nokia Siemens Networks and Alcatel-Lucent, refocusing on network infrastructure and patents.
業界での地位
Nokia is a communication-equipment company providing mobile, fixed, and cloud network solutions worldwide, organized around Network Infrastructure, Mobile Infrastructure, and Portfolio Businesses. Its competitive standing rests on operator-grade install bases with high switching costs, a portfolio of more than 26,000 patent families generating standard-essential licensing revenue, Bell Labs research, and trusted-supplier status in markets shaped by EU 5G rules. After acquiring Infinera, Nokia held roughly 20% of the optical transport equipment market, the second-largest position behind Huawei. Key competitors include Ericsson, Cisco, and Ciena.
