沿革
Founded in 1836 when the Schneider brothers, Adolphe and Eugène, took over the Le Creusot ironworks in France as Schneider & Cie, making steel, heavy machinery and railway equipment, the company first entered the electricity market in 1891. Through the 1980s-90s it divested steel and shipbuilding and acquired Télémécanique (1988), Square D (1991) and Merlin Gerin (1992), renaming itself Schneider Electric in 1999. Later deals included APC (2006, about $6.1 billion), Invensys (2014, about £3.4bn) and full ownership of software firm AVEVA (60% in 2018, the rest in January 2023 for about £3.9bn cash). In November 2024 the board replaced CEO Peter Herweck with Olivier Blum.
