沿革

United Airlines Holdings, Inc. was incorporated in 1968 and is based in Chicago, Illinois, conducting nearly all of its operations through United Airlines. It completed an IPO on February 6, 2006, and was formerly known as United Continental Holdings, Inc. before changing its name to United Airlines Holdings, Inc. in June 2019. The company has grown into a global network carrier serving more than 380 destinations across six continents, operating hubs in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, and Guam, and carrying about 181 million passengers in 2025. Annual revenue moved from $43.26 billion in 2019 to $15.36 billion in 2020 and $24.63 billion in 2021 amid the pandemic, then recovered to $53.72 billion in 2023, $57.06 billion in 2024, and $59.07 billion in 2025. 業界での地位

In its 2025 10-K, United Airlines Holdings states it is the largest airline in the world measured by available seat miles, transporting passengers and cargo through mainline and regional fleets and serving more than 380 destinations. Its principal competitors include Delta, American, Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Frontier, and Spirit, within a U.S. large-airline market that is highly concentrated yet competitively intense. United's scale, international network, and hub coverage rest on a dense set of business and gateway hubs and on the Star Alliance, which in 2025 covered more than 190 countries and territories, over 1,150 airports, and about 17,500 daily departures. The carrier operates 424 regional aircraft under capacity purchase agreements and runs the MileagePlus loyalty program, including a co-branded credit card partnership with JPMorgan Chase whose mileage sales, marketing, and United Club memberships contribute to non-ticket revenue. Its credit ratings stand near non-investment grade, with S&P and Fitch at BB+ and Moody's at Ba1.
