История
ATI Inc. was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and conducted its IPO on November 29, 1999. The company was formerly known as Allegheny Technologies Incorporated. It produces and sells specialty materials and complex components worldwide through two segments: High Performance Materials & Components (HPMC) and Advanced Alloys & Solutions (AA&S). Over recent years ATI reshaped its portfolio by focusing on high-value business, divesting non-core operations, reducing debt, expanding aerospace-related capacity, and returning capital through buybacks. This transformation is visible in its financials: gross margin rose from 11.9% in 2021 to 22.0% in 2025 and operating margin from 4.2% to 14.0% over the same period, while capital expenditure increased from $200.7 million in 2023 to $239.1 million in 2024 and $280.6 million in 2025. By the end of 2025 the company employed about 7,600 people and generated revenue of about $4.587 billion.
Положение в отрасли
ATI is a high-barrier specialty-materials producer whose core market is aerospace and defense, which accounted for about 68% of total sales in 2025; within that, roughly 92% of HPMC revenue and about 41% of AA&S revenue came from aerospace and defense. HPMC supplies high-performance nickel- and titanium-based alloys, precision forgings, components and machined parts, while AA&S covers nickel-, titanium- and zirconium-based specialty alloys in plate, sheet and precision rolled strip forms. The company holds long-term agreements with Boeing, Airbus, GE Aviation, Safran, Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney covering airframe, structural and engine materials and forgings. Its competitive position rests on certified material systems, melting/remelting/forging/heat-treatment/precision-machining capability, qualified critical capacity and historical delivery records rather than brand or network effects; the company holds hundreds of U.S. patents but states that losing any single patent would not materially affect the business. In 2025 HPMC reached an EBITDA margin of 23.6% and AA&S 16.3%, and at year-end ATI confirmed an order backlog of about $3.7 billion, roughly 70% of which was expected to deliver in 2026. Because material demand typically leads aircraft delivery by 6 to 12 months, the business retains cyclical characteristics. Comparable specialty-materials and aerospace-component peers referenced include Carpenter Technology (CRS), Howmet Aerospace (HWM), Hexcel (HXL) and Materion (MTRN).
