Electronic Arts Inc. was incorporated in 1982 and is headquartered in Redwood City, California, with its IPO dated March 26, 1990. The company has grown partly through acquisitions, including the mobile-focused Glu and Playdemic and the racing-game developer Codemasters. In September 2025 the board agreed to sell the company for $210 per share in cash to a consortium, and shareholders approved the transaction on December 22, 2025, with completion still subject to remaining regulatory conditions. Through sustained buybacks, outstanding shares fell from about 280 million in FY2022 to about 251 million in FY2026.
